Had a good flight from Athens to Singapore, no empty seat next to me unfortunately, and no sleep. Got here really tired and watched a free movie (Russell Crowe's Robin Hood, which was pretty good), then had a 3-hour kip in a "nap room". It's essentially a small room with a bed & table, and a curtain across the door. Luckily there was no one snoring in the room next door and I had a reasonable sleep. It costs S$30 for the 3 hours, but worth it when you consider the other alternatives are chairs and the odd sofa within the airport. I did get another hour or so on an empty sofa, which also helped.
Check the photo - these guys looked so cute, I couldn't resist taking the pic (and another lady did as well). I've seen them around the airport all day, they're a group of Sri Lankan workers going to Korea.
Had a look at the butterfly garden here in the airport. It's very pretty but there aren't many butterflies and it's very hot and humid in there.
I didn't end up going into Singapore at all, I was so knackered. By the time I was a bit more energised, they'd closed the free tour. Not too worried, I think I've done more than my share of sightseeing for now and perhaps I'll come back here one day & do it properly. Don't know what the temperature is outside, but it was 27 deg when we landed before 5am, and right now at 6pm it's 30 deg inside!
Well, folks - this is it. I'd like to thank y'all for coming along with me on this most momentous trip. I've had an absolute blast, as you can tell. Thankfully this blog will help me to remember better the bits that are now dim memories. I will try not to bore you all with endless remembrances, but if you ask, don't say you weren't warned!
No word whether there is any delay to my flight out of here just after 9pm due to the Chilean ash cloud, so all going well I should be arriving in Auckland just before 11am tomorrow.
See you all soon!
